The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pushed up the price of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually come into sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one service is benefiting from the growing pressure to find to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
